Newsletter: January 2017
Dear Parent, Happy New Year!
I hope this letter finds everyone well. Chinese students currently are finishing up the chapter of asking and answering age and identity. We’ll soon move to the next chapter—classroom objects. Besides learning Chinese language, students are going to explore Chinese New Year this month. Students will discover how people celebrate New Year in China, what kinds of food they eat on New Year’s Eve, and what customs are associated with this festival. Students will also sing and perform the lion dance at the next all school meeting in February.
Besides the regular curriculum, students are excited about Chinese New Year and its related activities. You might have heard from your child, we are going to participate in the Chinese New Year Celebration held by BCLS (Beijing Chinese Language School) on Saturday January 28th, 2017 at Shrewsbury High School Auditorium. The program will start at 1:30pm and finish at 5pm. The admission is $5 per person this year. Tickets will be sold at the door on Sunday. Our students will perform children’s rhymes on stage. Students don’t need to stay through the whole program but they are encouraged to support others. I believe this is a great opportunity for students to extend their learning experience from classroom to the community. I understand your child might have a conflicting schedule; however, this activity is not mandatory. I’ll send more information home regarding the event and more details if necessary.
Please fill in the following form and return to me, or simply reply YES or NO with email. Feel free to contact me through email if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
ChinHuei Yeh
