Newsletter: June 2017
Dear Parents,
Nihao!
I cannot believe how fast the school year has gone by. At the time of this writing, we only have about two weeks left of school! The students in Grade 6 Chinese have worked hard on leaning how to express one’s nationality and the languages one can and cannot speak last month. Currently, they are focus on sports and likes/dislike. Students are able to identify different sports and express their likes and dislikes in sports. Students started their final writing assignment (self-introduction) last week. They will also have a final oral test and listening test next week.
We’re currently wrapping up the curriculum and busy with all of the final things we need to do in class. The students have learned so much this year and are able to do many things with Chinese language and culture. For now, the main achievement made by the students is to introduce themselves in Chinese, which includes speaking/writing/typing their own name, age, nationality, family members, pets, and sports. They are also able to answer some simple questions regarding their personal information. You should feel very proud of your son’s/daughter’s accomplishment.
I have really enjoyed teaching this group of students this year. I have learned a lot from teaching them in class as well. They have made visible progress in all four skills over the past eight months. I am really proud of them! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and concern regarding your student’s progress in Chinese study.
Have a great summer!
Respectfully,
