October Newsletter
Nihao!
Currently in Sherwood Chinese class, we’re busy learning Chinese language and culture. Students have learned basic facts about China and the knowledge of Chinese language. They have also learned how to write their Chinese name and the basic rules of writing Chinese characters. Grade 6 Chinese students also created their own Chinese pictograph picture. Students are going to learn pronunciation this week and recite some of the popular children’s songs with correct pronunciation. Students will use the iPad to make their own greeting comics for writing assessment on next unit soon.
In addition to classroom activities, class notes, videos, audio recording and practice games will often be posted on Schoology to help students practice Chinese at home. Students are requested to check Schoology every day for homework and assignment. With Schoology, parents can monitor student’s homework and progress through a parent account. Please contact me if you are interested in setting up a parent account.
For the parent conference on November 8th, I’ll be available to meet you at Sherwood Middle School in room 263. Many parents have scheduled a slot for that day. Please feel free to contact me if you haven’t done so or you need to schedule on a different day. I look forward to talking with you regarding your child’s progress.
Respectfully,
